Another Turn

And so another turn,

around, around, around,

pirates and empires burn,

cursed and holy ground.

We are right, you are wrong,

your god is weak,

ours is strong,

I hear Him speak.

He says…

“do what you must, I will not forsake,

yours is the sea, the land, and the oil,

these are all for you to take,

to the loser death, to the winner the spoils".

God is good and male and white,

and best of all he’s on our side,

God hates Sunni, Arab and Shiite,

false prophets must be decried!

And so another turn,

around, around, around

pirates and empires burn,

cursed and holy ground.

Powerful piece Oli.

The power in this comes from its absolute directness. It doesn't leave space for the reader to tone the meaning, it's there in stark shades of black and white. This being the case, it may provoke some strong feeling in both directions.

For what it's worth, I thought this an excellent piece.

Good to see you back 'on site.'

Happy New year. Good to see Christmas hasn't mellowed you, sweetie.
A powerful and succint piece you have the knack of channeling anger very creatively and it shows
cheers

A very candid and powerful piece, expressed with impact as always.

Best wishes,

Really like this. Your language is simple but effective. I particularly enjoyed the second stanza. The repetition of the first stanza works well too. My only complaint is the rhyme scheme in the third stanza- seems a tad clumsy. Otherwise nice work :)

Lots of good stuff here. I liked the "He says" intro to the third stanza. "Cursed and holy ground" is well put and meaningful. And, most of all, I wholeheartedly agree with the message.
Peace!

Liked this Oli - I also think the third stanza could maybe do with a tweak or two but a very strong, direct piece nonetheless.
