This is about great minds being wasted because of the failings of education. It is also about great minds not needing to be taught a curriculum to question life.

Wish I knew a way to be,

‘Cos it’s difficult to just exist

Without a thought to the method,

Just conception then … this! Painful

And sort of half-ignorant pottering on this planet

That we like to believe is the limit.

But really there’s a quite a lot in it

And far too much to even perceive, they say,

Shuffling papers on a university desk

At the end of a day

Of teaching philosophy to gormless faces

With minds decidedly in other places

I’d rather be there than here,

For even the best minds get bored I fear,

Emptying dustbins year after year.

Liked from 'Shuffling papers' much more than what came before. A little more focused. Although the first part was important, it didn't really say it clearly enough for me.

Phil.
Incidentally....

What does Gouranga mean and why is it plastered over every motorway bridge I drive under?
Hmmm

A little unclear to me - but I can't help liking what I think you are trying to say.

You are right that your "role" in life is not of primary concern. It always astounds me when the first question people as of you is "what are you" or "what do you do" - they consider the questions equivalent.

The answers for me are "I am a person" and "I live". I do not wish to be defined by a "role".

I can see a sharp mind, struggling for lucid expression. Well done.

Oli :)
