There must have been fifty of them
burning cars,
burning people running
screaming silent screams
on this highway of fire,
the stink of burning flesh
filled my head on this
summers night.

in the shadows
stood my long dead parents and grandparents
watching silently
as children burned and
mothers wept tears of flame,
my parents held aloft babies
in their skeletal arms
for me to see before the
flames consumed all.
