Tortured by life

The problems that many may share

WHAT ARE THE SECRETS CAUGHT IN YOUR HEAD

AS YOU LAY TORMENTED IN OUR BED

YOU SEEM SO DISTANT IN SO MANY WAYS

MAYBE THERE'S WHERE THE SECRET LAYS

YOU NEVER SHARE YOUR TORMENTED THOUGHTS

WAS IT SECRECY AS A CHILD YOU WERE TAUGHT

I TRIED TO CRACK THE CODE TO REACH YOUR HEART

BUT YOUR TORMENTED BEING KEEPS US APART

TO STOP YOU SCREAMING HALF THE NIGHT

TO PUT A HALT THE WRONGS AND MAKE THEM RIGHT

HOW WILL I EVER KNOW IF YOU REALLY CARE

OR EVEN IF YOU WILL ALWAYS BE HERE

SO WHAT ARE THE SECRETS CAUGHT IN YOUR HEAD

AS YOU LAY TORMENTED IN OUR BED.

So Very Sad
Written by LaughterLines (34 comments posted) 19th June 2005
This poem is such a sad one. Trying to get someone close to open up their thoughts and problems is sometimes very difficult and I have been through this kind of experience. A well written poem indeed.

Thank you for your review, it is from personal experience, I have a partner who is so deep. I think it is passed issues, but he will never say, I just try not to let on how sad it makes me, and I write it in poetry instead.
Thanks once again :)

I thought there was real emotion in this poem. And I can identify with it too - as I usually find out what my husband thinks when we are at parties and he is telling other people - things he's never told me. But I think maybe that is sort of a male thing - lacking in communication skills. Lucky for us, we can write.

Yes, I agree with all these comments, also I would say to Jean.Day,that I have found that men particularly, often let their guard down with those people who are not as close to them, there are vulnerabilities related to closeness. People find it is often easier to open up to a random stranger or unrelated person.
Writing is, so often, therapy!
not ALL men!!!!!!!!!

........ after 27 years my wonderful O/H and I have reached a stage where perhaps 50% of our "conversations" are completely private. Sometimes, in fact, we don't necessarily have to be in the same ROOM, BUILDING or even on occasion the same COUNTRY to know what each other is 'saying'.

It took us some time to discover that this was not a 'normal' state of affairs between couples...... :eek :grin
