First Love #5 Karen (Beaky)
By Phil
25 January 2007
High School, early eighties.

First Love #5 Karen (Beaky)

Bitch extraordinaire.
I never dared tell her,
But really,
I fancied her friend,
Pam.
Not only did she have
A smaller nose,
She was lovely with it.

The style seems differnt from the other four. It's nice but I think the others were better.

I agree. I nearly made it all up just to make it better - but I didn't. Ridiculous though it may sound, This little journey (for Lazy Writers) is all true.

Another nice one. I love the last line - it gives it that light and innocent quality.

Ah yes, what a sly child! You toyed with Karen's emotions in order to get closer to Pam!

You learned early how to play the game Mr. Phil!

What's wrong with big noses anyway?

Interestingly enough, most Americans, I believe, would interpret your use of 'with it' to mean not 'in addition to' but 'using it.' So if I had not spent six years in the U.K. I would be wondering what kinky thing it was Karen did with her nose to make it so memorable. I am curious as to whether there are any other Americans out there who have read this and wondered about that use of 'with it.' Anyone brave enough to fess up?

Funny poem, Phil!

I liked this one Phil - one of the best so far IMO - made even better by witzl's fantastic comment about wondering what karen did with her nose!!! Loved the subversive undertone...
