Power and Forgiveness
By maipenrai

with your power
you show no mercy,
and your power is killing us
in our poverty.

you seem to think
that we should seek your
forgiveness,
as if our poverty is
an affront to you,
as if it is something
we should be ashamed of.

well, I feel no shame,
the poor may be humble
but we have our pride ,
and our love for our
brothers and sisters.

whilst you,  with your power
you have nothing,
nothing of humanity
left inside you.

and yet I still forgive you.

Hi,
I hear the third world talking to our over fed over indulged society. There is anger but it is a controlled anger.
I liked it. marybarry

Of all the poems you've posted so far, I think this is the best. It builds an idea and follows it through well. One or two superfluous words and one or two that I'd change.

Very direct and lacking any metaphorical devices it is still effective.

Phil.
thanks
