Extended Work
Not Yet! chapter three.

I need some advice about the way I fisnihed this.... about the language.... everything actually! Should this be in the extended work section (only three chapters)?

I went to school the other day, but Salma was not there. She used to skip school whenever something happened at home. I called her when I got back home after hours of begging my mom to let me do it. Salma said that she was coming after the afternoon prayer. I was happy to hear that so I prepared the homework assigned to us by the teacher.
Salma came, she was a bit disoriented. “what’s wrong?” I had to ask at a certain point. Salma did not want to talk but I understood without her telling me that she missed her family. She told me she fell of the table when she was trying to clean the curtains and that was why she got broses all over her shoulders. She did not seem comfortable at all. Actually I was surprise that she wanted to leave as soon as she could for fear that she would have to answer my mom’s questions regarding the broses. I assured her that mom won’t notice. Anyway, she left and promised to come back tomorrow.
Our life remained the same, nothing changed except that we are now college students. We were still friends. Still we shared our secrets and promises to stay good friends forever. I kept my struggle to lose weight for a very long time till it worn me out. I was very skinny and I was still. My friends were amazed of how I was able to do it. They were thinking that I was following a very strict diet. They were obsessed with dieting and exercising all the time.  I simply hated food finding a place in my stomach and could not keep it inside.
I studied History in college and graduated with a good GPA it was not high but still was not bad. I stayed at home after college. My family did not want me to work as my father was the provider of the family. I did not know what to do with my degree and the idea of me not getting a job bothered me, but still I stayed at home and did not struggle to change their minds.
I wanted to get married as soon as possible and start my own life. I wanted to have kids of my own. The future was not my biggest concern. I was living my days as they pass with no effort. I did not notice that I was basically of no significance till Salma came one day and told me that she was getting married. Her cousin proposed and she was thinking about it. I was happy, very happy for her. She was not.
One day she came to visit me, and she had something to tell. “Latefa! I don’t want to get married. I don’t.” I was surprised by her words. I thought she was in love with her cousin and that she was waiting this day all her life. “I promised to stay loyal to my dad. I told him so.” I was puzzled, I envied her for having such a good relationship with her dad, but still I could not get it.
I knew later on, that Salma was abused sexually by her dad. She told me everything at once. Whenever her mom left for a couple of days to see her sick mom, Salma’s dad was making his moves. He told Salma that this was the way he showed her his love as a father and she should show him her love too as a daughter. I was in shock when she told me that it started when she was a little girl in the fifth grade. He was touching her improperly as she told me. He also brought her adult magazines so that she would educate herself.
It was sickening all what she was going through. She was told by her dad of course that her mother was not doing her job properly and that Salma was much better. He told her that whoever will marry her will be a lucky guy. Salma therefore did not want to get married for her father’s heart won’t be broken and he would always be the lucky one.
She was almost convinced that that was the right way and I could not make any changes in the way she was thinking. I told her that she should get married and leave that sick place. Her mother had the strongest influence to convince Slama to say “I do” Her dad surprisingly asked her to agree. Her husband was a very understanding guy, of course she dared not say anything to him about her father abuse. Salma was reluctant to have sex with her husband and being in bed with him was one of the hardest things she had to deal with. She could not accept any man touching her but her dear father.
