Run Me Down
By bloodywits
11 February 2007
I'm rather fond of this one. Haven't revisited it since I originally wrote it and am thinking it could use some dusting off.

The stars are out
the moon is shining
the dogs are howling
and so are you
there’s a train coming
I can feel the ground shaking
but the warning lights aren’t flashing
so I’m still passing through
You’ll run me down
run me over
run me out
but I’m still standing here
watching you
My heart’s in a million pieces
scattered in a million places
My mind’s a circle blown apart
shrapnel arcs that can’t connect
You see all my shreds, tears, scars
You see the effort it would take to make me whole
You’ll run me down
run me over
run me out
but I’m still standing here
watching you
