Faith?

When my poetic glands are wont to clam up,
I offer but this humble epigram up.

To those who pray to gods invisible,

I offer this, my challenge to your faith,

If you find ghosts and ghoulies risible,

What are you like to be after your death?

Oh Oli I can't read this aloud - the half rhyme of invisible and risible is just too painful!!!

Hope you unblock the poetic glands soon before the ghosties get you...

A word of advice to ye who dwell on "sp

You shouldn't laugh at poor lost souls
Who gloomy churchyards do patrol -
But the evil spirits you should throttle
Including those inside your bottle.

Too much spirit makes you gloomy Oli!

To those who worship no deity
How different are you from a rock?
Without soul and without piety
Just matter, who are you to mock?
Ashes to ashes
Dust to dust
What do you do without a goal
Where does it end without a soul?

Do you think we ought to have a theology forum? I know I'm as guilty as the next, but really. And while we're at it, how about an old wives forum for the handing out of rhyming but personal advice?

Sorry - off topic.

In answer to your question: gone; but I always like to entertain the possibility I might return as an earth worm (I did unspeakable things to the poor creatures when I was a child.)

As an atheist i can only hope that the old statement is true :

Heaven for climate , Hell for company

Warbling :

I know where I'm going and I know who's going with me

One single soul - perhaps, but heaven and hell must both be getting a biut crowded by now. I enjoy the thought of recycling. Philip Pullman is one of the latest to give it a near-poetic form in prose (inThe Subtle Knife) but in some form or another it has been around for millennia, and but for a Christian edict sometime around the 4th c reincarnation would be part of orthodox Christianity today.

My mother says she wants to come back as a Siamese cat - beautiful, pampered, and with a very loud voice.
