I quit studying Chemistry nearly two years ago. I miss it, I should have kept it up, really.

Comments please :)

I am the Scientist.

I like to create,
but dream of destruction.

I play God with potions.

Alkali, acid,
modern day magic
enclosed in cool glass beakers.

Behind smoky safety goggles,
I watch colours merge,
crystals form;

all elementary art,
performed in front of me.

I seek a faint indication
of some small creation

made in a little glass world.

In my experience practical science is rarely so glamourous. More often then not it consists of transferring colourless liquids form one tube to another over and over again all day long to produce a data set which may or may not tell you anything interesting. I'm not trying to sound cynical but mostly boredom with occasional flashes of excitement would be a more accurate description in my mind.

I found this a little stereotypical I guess. There was a magic to it but a little misleading perhaps! But then maybe others out there will disagree with me.

I have to be honest and say it didn't do much for me on the whole - sorry. I could see what you were getting at, but struggled to engage. However, you might be on to something with the last three lines. Reading those I had a really strong image of one of those small glass encased snow scenes - the ones filled with water and white flakes.

I was hoping for something far more sinister =(

it's self contained, with nice imagery. It's got pretty pictures, but that's about it. This seems to be the danger with yourwork, you have great, simple, striking imagery that should back up powerful meaning...but the imagery is easy to do than the meaning, and often that's all you get.
