The Glory That was Rome
By CliffBowes
18 March 2007
I spent a quiet Saturday Afternoon in front of the TV watching the final act in the Six Nations unfold. I though it was pretty similar to the 2000 year old games in the Coliseum.
I live in dreams as it is many years since I was in any state to pit my skills as a scrum-half.

They fought beneath the Roman sky,
Gladiators prepared to meet their fate.
At Stadio Flaminio they live or die,
Their lot decided on this date.

The Nouovi Romani met their match.
With faces painted and bodies bare
To the Roman sun, the supporters watch
A glorious horde of Celts. It’s war.

After eighty minutes it did unfold
Many were bloodied, many were lost,
Italy the underdogs, although they were bold,
Lost 24 - 51 and France's tale was told.

Six Nations Champions - Unfortunately France.

unfortunately - but well deserved in the end. Not with their usual flair, but certainly efficient.

Not to worry, we can enjoy the cricket world cup now without the worry of having too much to celebrate.

Never read verse based on rugby before. Enjoyed it.
