Worms

I didn't write this. I just got it in an email from my brother-in-law, Larry,  in Minnesota, but I thought it was too good not to share it with somebody.

I was supposed to tell you this story --  There is a friend here in Foley that has coffee with us in the morning but at the booth next to ours.  He has been having trouble with his health and now he has been coughing up worms from his lungs.  They are alive and are white and look like grub worms.

He has been collecting them to take them to the doctor to get them analyzed.  He had them in water in a bottle when we saw them but when he took them to the doctor they said he had to get them some that were out of water so he now is working on that.  Trying to cough up fresh samples.

I don't think I'd like the idea of worms growing in my lungs but who knows?  He went to a clinic and they had him drink an iodine mixture and that made the worms let go I guess.  Now he can cough them up.  Interesting heh?  I though it was a good story and TRUE.  I'll keep you updated on that one.

Thank you for sharing that with us, Jean. Over breakfast. I'm sure you were delighted to receive this news! Unless he's been in the Tropics, he may just have lungworm, from eating seafood - when they get to size of rattlesnakes, just swallow a mongoose. A pity he didn't attach a photo.

Dear God, Jean! I do remember hearing about an ex-Peace Corps volunteer who had been in Sub-Saharan Africa; he was feeling a little funny one day and while shaving, noted a worm attempting to exit via his nose. I'm not quite sure what he did, but I think his next step was a visit to the emergency room.

When I was seventeen, I worked in an insurance company in Miami. I still remember shuddering over the diagnosis on one claim we received: Patient complaining of severe pain, right ear. Large roach removed from right ear. I still get nightmares just thinking about that.
Thanks Coosh and Mary

I'll let you know if I find out any more about the fate of the poor man.

Dear god. Just think of all the things that can go wrong with your body - and someone has to think up a new one. It's a wonder any us live beyond puberty. I hope for everyone's sake this one turns out to be a haux.

Thanks for sharing - I think!

I kind of hope it's an early April fool's joke too.

Perhaps it`s just as well we can`t see what is going on inside our bodies Jean! Perhaps if your friend is a fisherman he could....no maybe not.

happy writing

Not-news indeed. Yuk!
Though I guess that if it was true the poor man'd already be dead...

Interesting!
I did hear that someone visiting the tropics once swallowed a tape worm. apparantly it protects you from nasty things that can attack the gut. When he returned home he took something which made the worm lose its grip. The rest you can guess!
