Limerick II
By Fledermaus
20 March 2007
Tá bean ina chónaí i Luimneach   (A woman is living in Limerick)
Feic sí fear dubh iontach               (She sees a wonderful dark man)
Níl mé pósta, deir sí                   (I am not married, she said)
Ach faoi dheireadh na mí            (But before the end of the month)
Tá sí pósta, an bean dheifreach  (She is married, the hasty woman)

I am impressed with your linguistic ablility but I think this does lose something in the translation. I'm sure it has them rolling in the aisles in the original, though

Thanks BBS.
I think it has more to do with a very limited vocabulary than with a translation. I only know very little Irish, so to come up with rhyming words is rather hard.

Irish? Is ther no end to your talents?! I know a hysterical limmerick but it is so rude that I am unable to print it here, sorry!
Good try.

Thanks for the compliment Kathy. I just love languages, so that's why I'm trying to learn too many all at the same time :grin
And since I saw how JohnnyD's French poems get better each time, I thought a poem might be a nice exercise indeed.
