Animal rights activists in Germany demand the death of baby polar bear Knut, because they consider its raising by the zoo-keepers unnatural. " Indeed, it is unnatural for this animal to live without its mother", says a German Greenpeace spokesman," And we support the idea that it should be put down. In fact, as mr. Albrecht should have explained, polar bears as a species are facing extinction. As such, it is only natural that all polar bears should all be exterminated to speed up what is a natural proces." Greenpeace further proposes that after the polar bear has been wiped out, they could focus on the giant panda, the blue whale and the Siberian tiger. Their natural habitats have changed and it is unnatural for such animals to live in close proximity to humans. According to the environmental organisation it is only humane to speed up their extinction. Animal rights groups all over the country support Greenpeace's proposed solution and provide hunting rifles as a welcome gift for new members. |
Oh Fledermaus Written by jean.day (2326 comments posted) 21st March 2007 | You don't want to even think such awful things. I started reading the story, and then was so relieved when it was in Not News. My worm story, is in fact, fact. | Written by Fledermaus (3448 comments posted) 21st March 2007 | | Jean, unfortunately the first two lines of this are true, see the article. Animal rights activists wanting to kill baby animals... The world should get any stranger... | Err Written by Fledermaus (3448 comments posted) 21st March 2007 | | "shouldn't get any stranger" of course. | Written by Bottleblondesurfer (3446 comments posted) 21st March 2007 | Yes. well that is the problem with this forum. We try to come up with crazy spoofs and sends up of the news and the news ends up being crazier than anything we could invent in our most psychotic moments. What a stunning perversion of logical thought you have highlighted here. Of course it means all pets should be killed off as well if you take it to it's logical conclusion. Fundamentalism of any sort always seems to result in killing for the "best" of reasons. Clever stuff J | Written by Fledermaus (3448 comments posted) 21st March 2007 | Thanks BBS. That's a clever thing indeed about the pets. I guess that would have made even better not-news. | Written by Witzl (1585 comments posted) 21st March 2007 | Interesting idea, Fledermaus. On a related theme, have you ever noticed how people who are good vegetarians still keep carnivorous pets? I know several radical vegetarians who have big, meat-gobbling dogs. It is odd, when you come to think of it. How do they rationalize this? | Written by Phil (6838 comments posted) 21st March 2007 | Read about this and was a little taken aback so you've done well to highlight it. Is this just a German thing do you think, or is it greenies all over the place wanting to go out and kill? Phil. | Watto Batty Written by BrianRobertNeal (1195 comments posted) 17th April 2007 | Watto Batty, Protect me from the convinced believer, let the pragmatists rule. Animal lovers: For one moment change places with your supposed best friend. What would you think if their first act was to have you neutered? Then if you're furry have you shaved and then put in an ill-fitting coat? Finally if you're feline feed you on carrion when your instinct is for fresh killed flesh. I'll stop there. | Written by Fledermaus (3448 comments posted) 19th April 2007 | Thanks Witzl, Phil and Brian, Witzl: That's a strange thing indeed. In fact one of such dog-loving vegetarians was a certain Adolf, who seemed to care more for animals than for humans... Phil: well, luckily most Germans seemed to disagree with this man's opinion too and Knut, in spite of bad eyesight, is happily alive and the hero of Berlin's zoo, so I've read. Yet it is a bit scary that such a strange opinion about killing something because it wasn't perfect arose in Germany... Above mentioned dog-lover did seemed to share more than a few ideas with this mr. Albrecht. Brian: Or what to think of vegetarians wearing leather shoes? I know people who firmly oppose to hunting, but meanwhile eat industrially farmed pork...
