Milk & Honey
By Talisker
21 March 2007
Just some light relief.

In the land of milk and honey
wouldn’t cuisine be quite runny?
Is to limit one’s ingredients
gastronomically expedient?

In the land of milk and honey
wouldn’t restaurants be funny?
“Is sir ready now to order?”
“Can’t your menu be made broader?”

In the land of milk and honey
gourmet diners would save money!
“There is only honey milk-shake
milk, or honey, which should I take?”

In the land of milk and honey
Would you be a happy bunny?
Those with dietary intolerance
may do better
overall
in France.

Do better overall in France?? You're just saying that to wind me up, I know.
Wonderful bit of writing. I really love stuff like this; and co-incidentally I heard Tom Lehrer on oneword radio earlier which is similar in sillines and cleverness to this. More please, when you're ready

Love that doggerel.

I suspect, though, that Americans would still manage honey-flavored yogurt, honey ice cream, honeycomb confections, honey milkshakes, fermented honey-and-milk, etc. In the U.K. they would have -- milk and honey.

I love your poem re milk and honey - which, of course I find quite funny! (Oh dear!) I'm a bit tired for poetry tonight (as you can see) - but Oli, I thought your poem was lots of fun. You might have guessed it was my kind of style, ha ha. Josie

I'd rather live in the land of beer and curry - but that's just me. Sometimes I might like to live in the land of beer and butties. I'm not a complicated soul!

Enjoyed this Oli.

I could show the cynical side of me and say that I'd prefer silk and money, but I wouldn't be so crude! Nice one Oli, I needed a laugh!

Just wandering through and, even though I'm not a big fan of poetry by any means, I have to say I loved this! Well done!
