A Long Way From Yesterday
By rilLie
25 March 2007
I know I haven't written anything in a while.. and it depresses me a lot. Makes me nervous, too. I really have no idea why I just stopped.. and it scares me.. X_X
Anyway, my batch and I are graduating from Grade School this Thursday, and I had volunteered to help with our graduation song. It's this tradition in our school that for every graduating batch, they'd make their own song to sing right after the Graduation Mass. Even if there were a lot who volunteered with me, at the end of the day, I had to make it myself... which is oxymoronic. Anyways, the Batch President really liked it, and just this Friday, the whole batch had sung it right after the everyday mass, and I had almost cried, because it was my poem. :)
I hope you like it.

I. When dreams become reality
And life begins to broaden out,
We learn to reach, to love and see
The beauty of what the world's about.

II. Clueless we had started,
And clueless we still are,
though we found out the secret,
God has helped us yet so far.

Ref. So long loved the worthless,
So long chased the lies,
How much time we had wasted,
and only now realize.

Chor. Hand in hand we step forward,
We know we can go on,
As boundaries are pushed away,
As such the world has never done.
Like the petals of a flower,
We come together in one God.
And like the leaves that grip their branches,
We hold on to Your love.

III. Though trials and problems leave and come,
We can't ignore the light in all.
For what can we do? Won't we be gone,
Without the one who stops our fall?

Bridge. It's a long way from yesterday,
To where I am today.
And all that's in me
Is in Your hands.

Hi rilLie, glad to see you back. What an honour to have your own poem performed. Almost as good as publication?

It sounds uplifting in a traditional school song way. What tune was it set to?

it was an original tune, and I had worked on that too. It's like being published in many ways, because I have this deep, warm feeling inside me. :)
