House prices hit new high..

All I can say is..stone me!.

House prices hit a new high yesterday when a man from Solihull sold his two

bedroom, end-of-terrace house in a local auction for an amazing three hundred and

fifty thousand pounds.

`I was absolutely gobsmacked when the bidding passed the three hundred

thousand mark,` said the delighted owner, who wished to remain anonymous. `I

know we are in quite a good catchment area for one or two excellent schools, and bus
and rail links into Birmingham are only a short walk away, but this is still an

extraordinary  price to pay for what is quite an ordinary little house.`

The lucky owner said he would of course  be leaving all the usual fixtures and

fittings which include fitted carpets, various kitchen units, all light fitments, fitted

wardrobes and approximately six hundred ready to harvest cannabis plants...

I feel really dumb I didn't get the reference to high straight away. I suppose you have the heat seaking helicpopters over your way too. There was recently one house in Netherfield with its attic full of plants and the bloke claimed it was for personal use. So not only a clever and witty piece but bang on the nail too
cheers

With Jane on this one. Only got the 'high' hint at the end. Nevertheless, an enjoyable read with (for this thickie) a twist at the end.

I had to read this twice two, but was twice as amused once I got the joke. Cannabis used to be -- and probably still is -- the number one cash crop in California. I had friends who accidentally walked through a cannabis field in Marin County once and almost got shot.

The "stone" had me wondering, rather than the "high" - yep, I enjoyed the way you rounded this off. There was a guy in America who was worried about the value of his house decreasing, so he decided to dig for oil in his (rather large) garden - I think he just ended up with a property that looked like a building site.
Thanks all.
