Who is he?
By Bagheera
07 July 2005

I believe truly and impl;icitly in the healing power of music.

Who on earth is this guy?

Anpther member of a writers' group I attend read something she had written yesterday, so I thought I'd give it my best shot.

Be kind with me! I'm a novice with poetry at the best of times!!!

Who is he?

He tried the sea: and backed off, free

Rinsed of all emotion, background, even history

Wandered alone in full evening dress

Found by a Good Samaritan, taken without duress

For treatment .

In hospital his wounds could be inspected

Treated, healed, dressed and disinfected

But what within his inner self was still broken?

Why has he never a single word yet spoken?

When will he?

And yet: his hands and fingers' supple grace

On the pianoforte's keyboard his speech replace

Reaching the soul and psyche of other patients

Healing their minds with music's grandiloquence

He plays on

No name, no memory, no speech, no family

No notion of who he was, is, or may yet be

An enigma, and yet a gift and blessing freely found

A privilege to hear him play such wondrous sounds

Of healing music
