WHICH POEM?

Originally, the poem was written in Hindi by famous poet NARESH SAXENA titled "KAUN SI KAVITAYEIN?", which means WHICH POEM?

WHICH POEM?

Like in the flight of birds
       A tree's steadfast presence is inevitable

Will in trouble times
      A poem be with us?

Like during war
       Arms are always in soldiers' arms
Along with blood stained pictures of his children and wife
       Will a para(graph) wbe blood stained ever?

Just like the steadfast tree's presence
       In the flight of birds
In trouble times
       Which poem will be with us?

Which arms would be
          In a soldiers' arms?

Hi Johnny: This is a poem to make you think. I read the first line, and I think a better word to finish it would be "constant" rather than inevitable. We have a lake in the grounds behind our house, and also two woodland trees (sycamores) in our garden. I will think of that line each day as I see the ducks flying through the trees and over our house. They come and go as the seasons do, but the trees remain constant. It is much as many things in life. It's also true about a poem. Whilst we read our newspaper and the news comes and goes, a favourite poem stays in our minds. Very strange. How did you relate this to the soldiers?

Interesting ideas. Needs battering into shape though. Must be difficult to translate from one language, keep the meaning but maintain poetic rhythm and flow. You've probably done the former, a little work on poetic structure needed.
