Mother Night

A poor tribute to Kurt Vonnegut, the greatest living American writer - until today.

RIP.

This is a very great poem

dedicated to an American genius

The world is poorer today

than it was yesterday

Bereft of your wit and vision

Deprived of your understanding

The blasts above your Dresden cell

stirred imagination

Illuminated humanity

Fired genius

You may be wrapped in Mother Night

or zoomed to Tralfamadore

You may be Kilgore Trout

or Jesus Christ

But you are with me always

Kurt Vonnegut

What a nice tribute Oli

He would be very pleased to know of your tribute. Perhaps he does know. If he is now a Tralfamadonian, he will, of course, with his four dimensional sight, have known what you were going to write before you did yourself. What a good thing for you that you said something good.

One of my favourite writers too - and news to me that he'd died. Fitting tribute - one I'll share if you don't mind.

A very nice tribute.
One of my favourite authors too.
Haven't read his last novel, but most of the others.

Some find words for a eulogy for the great man.
A lot of people have been talking about him on the radio but this was by far the nicest valediction.
Thanks for that
And so he goes
