Abyss of Hell
By Goddess
30 April 2007
This is a poem which outlines the darkness that goes on between nightfall and dawn but not only the darkness in the world but in man's heart. Probably doesn't need to much of an introduction really Laughing

Spirits and Shadows! Go, slither and slink!
Slide onwards and watch... see now, don’t you blink.
Abyss of Hell, open, swallow me in.
Thrice to thine and thrice to mine.
How now, my Spirits? Fire and Thunder and Rain!
Dost thou frighten children – or feel their pain?
Fie on the beauteous waters and soil!
Fie on you apparitions and your toil!
The darkness creeps in like wolf to its prey.
Man’s dim nature remain till a new day.

Sounds like some sort of enchantment.
Just wondering...' thou' and 'thine' are singular, yet it seemed the addressees were the spirits rather than the abyss...
Nice rhyme and an interesting tone.
Impressed

I'm really impressed with this - it reminded me of Shakespeare - A Midsummer Night's Dream or That Scottish Play We're Not Supposed to Mention. I like the rhythm and the rhyme, the vivid imagery and although some might say it's archaic, I see nothing wrong with that.

Let's have some more, please!
