the other side of the coin

England away – a nation’s Achilles heel
Everyone so sure it’ll be an ordeal
Don’t get me wrong we don’t all sing in a choir
But at the same time we’re not guns for hire

Mexico 86, I was done for assault
Took the Mirror on – proved it wasn’t my fault
Fleet Street and lies, as usual, in cahoots
So it wasn’t just Lineker filling his boots

Fast forward, 98, Marseille, on the beach
Was it Henry V shit – once more to the breach?
Was it fuck – please hold your hands up now cops
This is football you clowns and not the Big Top

So close your eyes and think it if you dare
Wouldn’t it be great if the 3 Lions weren’t there?
I want to go on but will you ever understand?
So just stand and admire while we sing En-ger-land

The last line made me think of people chanting at a footie match...not sure if this assumption was accurate.
Love the Linekar line. I have to be honest though the title doesn't make sense. But maybe that's just me...
