Continuing the morbid theme
[THE BANSHEE IS DRESSED IN LONG FLOWING WHITE. HE IS WEARING A SCREAM MASK. HE IS HOLDING A PHONE TO HIS EAR]
[BANSHEE]
Hello? Yes, I’d like to send a telegram, please.
[BEAT]
Yes, it’s to The Laird, Connaught Castle, Shannon, Ireland.
[BEAT]
Sorry, I don’t have a post code, is that a problem? There’s only the one castle in the village.
[BEAT]
OK, the message is, ‘WOOOOOOOOOOOO’. That’s ‘W’ and twelve ‘O’s.
[BEAT]
No, that’s all. And sign it Banshee. B - A – N – S – H – double E. No, no last name, just Banshee. Yes, like Madonna. Thank you.
[HE HANGS UP AND TURNS TO DEATH. DEATH SHAKES HIS HEAD]
[DEATH]
The sooner you get your driving licence back, the better.

| Heheheh... And is someone going to sing this telegram? I bet the audience will be as silent as the grave. |

Liked the gentle humour leading up to the end - it worked well for me. The ending was a bit of a throw away gag - but I thought it fitted really well and rounded it off. Good stuff - made me laugh too. Would a mere Banshee consort with Death? Bit like me having tea with The Queen - but Death's more useful - and probably not inbred - and likely not German etc etc. Phil. |

You've got a bit of a thing about Death at the moment. I'm not sure it's too healthy. I liked this a lot, very silly and very short. I wish I could keep them this short cheers Jane |

| I like this -- a haunting telegram. The scream mask is a nice touch too. |

I loved the throwaway last line as it brought what had gone before into sharp focus. You`re not one of these guys who can only go out after the sun goes down are you Snoddy? Nice piece. Woodyl |

'Yes, like Madonna' ... Succinct and hilarious. I think the 'driving licence' line worked well in giving a reason for the telegram and further grounding an otherwise fantastic premise in reality. Superb. Best wishes Jim |
Gaffe? Or no Gaffe? Written by flook123 (35 comments posted) 7th June 2007 |
Snodlander. Fine. But you do realise, don't you, that the Banshee is female!? Or have I missed something? Send this somewhere and it could be you that is the joke. Nothing worse than English people ignorant of the culture of others. Lance. |
Can I phone a friend? Written by Snodlander (501 comments posted) 7th June 2007 |
Banshees are female? Then where do little banshees come from? From under the gooseberry bush. And Rabies! That's worse than English people ignorant of the culture of others. |

Phone as many friends as you like. If they have half a brain they will all tell you the same thing. When you are in a hole, stop digging. What a clanger! And just to make matters worse, 'Laird' is a Scots term; not Irish. Thanks for the PM and while we are on the subject the English word is ' defence' not 'defense'. Got anymore howlers? Lance. |

| Thought this was funny - very surreal. There's a whole series here! Re the above comments about gender of banshees and identity of Lairds; it's either funny or it's not, and this, for me is! |
