This man does not know the secret of fire.

I tried to keep you dry

in my tinderbox-heart.

Tears made damp

the cosseting place

Love-sparks, fragile,

kindled, dwindled.

Sickly fireflies died

too readily.

Did you cherish

The ember of me?

Sorry if this isn't fictional Oli. Lost love is never pleasant, and always leads to introspectection, which is a bugger all on its own.

Simple, flowing and moving. Worked for me.

Not bursting into flames as well as it might though. A sheltering hand, a gentle breath, and who knows - maybe a conflagration!

Sweet, (I'm not being patronising), and so redolent of lost love.

Liked this Oli - those first two lines in particular. Very nice.
