the stars looked like
By aleatoric_rhetoric

the stars looked like

the stars looked like
little breaches in a
tinted window panel
the light
shining
through

and the flowers on your
grave wained
"dreams
come
true"

they plopped the earth
on you: the ground isn't
fine with your presence
like the
other graves

you haven't been
digested

and i sat, trying to look
like someone buddhist
or at peace with all this

closing my eyes---
trying to see what
heaven was like

and

my eyes fluttered
as i tried to keep
them absolutely
tight and i thought
i saw a light in the
middle of my vision

but i
realized

that my mind had a
night sky that
in
most
cases
had no stars, but my
lids--they stammered
showing
me that
the stars looked like
little breaches in a
tinted window panel
the light
shining
through
