THE REFUGE
By donna73
21 May 2007
just my thoughts i'd wrote a couple of days after moving into a refuge for homeless families and vunerable women.

THE REFUGE.

So why is it we're all in here???

The men we once loved turned love into fear.

Mental torment, physical abuse,

Yet it's us what leave and live in a refuge.

Up root the kids from where they play and live,

As our partners target board is a sieve.

Now away we feel safe,

Why do we put up with it, it's a disgrace.

No matter who we are, or where we are from,

We don't deserve abuse, it's all so wrong.

He portrays to be innocent as can be,

Behind closed doors nobody can see.

Grind our feelings to the stone,

Sorrys after another broken bone.

Day in day out we make an excuse,

He's not well, yet gives out his verbal abuse.

Form verbal to physical, how much longer will it last?

How much more can you take before you put it in the past?

You've made that step, please don't go back,

Take the help that is offered to get you back on track.

You're now free to speak,

You'll gain your strength if you feel too weak.

Are you blamed for leaving him behind?

you'd still be there if his harsh words had been kind.

Take your time, you've made a start,

Look from within and rebuild your heart.
