Tiger or Tabby?
By SeasideScribbler

I've always found cats hard to work out. One minute they're curled up on you fast asleep, purring away and smiling contentedly... and the next they're stalking things in the garden! Which is the 'real' cat?! I guess no matter how much we try to domesticate them, our feline friends will always have that wild streak...

Tiger or Tabby?

Belly to the grass, closer he inches,
Breath is abated. The terrain is still.
Empty except for the nest of finches,
Unknowingly marked by their dulcet trill.
Paws creep forward, shoulders swing,
His rigid gaze burns into the trees.
He is Supreme Slinker-the Prowling King.
The green sea parts bowing in the breeze.
Saliva glistens, paws release scythes.
In fascination, Time forgets to pass,
His prey feel no fear for their lives.
Then, like a demon, he springs from the grass.

Mid leap he pauses, swayed by the yell
Of 'Here Puss!' and the Whiskars Tuna Chunks he can suddenly smell.

Yes cats are hunters and so are all animals if allowed to kill. I have just found lots of feathers under the bird feeder. It is hard to say whether it was a cat or a hawk that had such a large bird. I felt very sad, though, for I love the birds that come to my garden. Well written Amy.
