grass, power lines, sky

My hair spills around me

around you

thistles in my ears in my eyes

we rock, we roll

clouds, pine needles, sky

My head spills out

the car door opens

anybody can see, I don't care who sees

we rock, we roll

grass, power lines, sky

you left me standing there, waiting

I loved you for it

I will always hunt you

I will always be the girl

prying locks off of the wall to get to you

looking out the window

at the grass, power lines, sky

wind in my hair

always relating

where I am in the world

to the farthest point in the universe

which is wherever you are

I invented you

and you let me

I loved you for it

and you let me

quietly powerful - an enjoyable piece

I very much enjoyed the lilting, lyrical quality of this and the fact that it didn't degenerate into self-pitying, sentimental, Hallmark garbage as a lot of stuff on these lines does. The first two stanzas had great economy and impact. Well done! Thanks for the read. Keep posting.
