I Will Not
By maipenrai
26 July 2005

I will not apologise for who I am

I will not apologise for my

Countrys History

I will not apologise

for where I came

my family, my history

I will not apologise

I wish for peace and light

but to those who preach

hatered and killing

I say  you are damned for eternity

Really liked this. Thought it was strong and powerful. I don't like to apologise either and you captured exactly how I feel about it. I don't like whining, I like strong positive poems and this is definately one of them. Best thing I've read on the site so far.
'I wish'

I would have liked the ‘I wish’ line that begins the second verse repeated more to mirror the rhythm you created in the first. I feel the ending here is a little sudden, it feels rushed to me, and is, in my opinion, a bit of a cliché. The emotion throughout is conveyed well, however, which is a trick all its own. Well done!

tartqueen , thank you very much for your comments

jj, you are spot on, the original piece was somewhat longer, i edited it to what you see now because the content could be viewed by some as being racist which was not the intention

again thanks to you both
