How selfish and greedy can politicians be? For $800,000 someone ruined so many lives...

How can anyone keep dry eyes
An innocent child was killed by lies
And a young, caring mother weeps
Her daughter now forever sleeps

Did this man have no conscience?
Can anyone doubt his sentence?
A bullet will go through his brain
A swift death without too much pain

For a million dollar he has sold his soul
Like making money was his only goal
Heaven shall do justice upon us all
It decides who rises and who shall fall

Well Done!

Well done Fledermaus for not only drawing our attention to such a dreadful thing, but also writing about it so well. Nobody can really get justice for doing such a terrible thing for young lives can never be restored.

Thanks Josie,
Indeed... Even when this man is shot, that does not bring back the dead or restore the handicaped...

Thank you for a lovely poem, it is advisable to read the web site you give before reading poem.
The poem is well constructed and written with passion.
I think a bullet is to good for Zheng Xiaoyu, perhaps he should be injected with the drugs he was responsible for.

Thanks Cliff.
I just hope there's some sort of justice in the afterlife, whatever that is... It's shocking someone without a conscience could have such a responsible position.

Power and money does funny things to some people.

Well done for raising this.

Wow, what a sicko... as you said, it's shocking, but perhaps an absence of conscience is in some way something that actually helps propel people to such power?

-should it be "sold his soul" rather than "sold soul"?

thanks,
Toad

Thanks Phil and Toad.
It should indeed have been 'his soul'. I corrected it.

It is so hard to write about such a dreadful event, but you have managed to do so very well, echoing the reactions of most people who are familiar with this case. elly.

Thanks Elly. It's a shocking story. I still can't understand how an educated, powerful person could do such a thing for money, and (considering his position) not even that much money. I have no real opinion about the death-penalty in general, but it seems indeed to be the only suitable punishment in this case.
