On The Inscrutability of Women
By Talisker
13 June 2007
What does a woman want?

She cannot know!

In truth, she was created

not to show!

For if she really knew,

she may let slip,

by accidental deed,

of hip or lip.

But we as men

must feign a tender love,

for safes and vaults we know,

yet nothing of.

Lifelong we try and try,

to gently prise her,

yet dodder to our cold graves,

none the wiser!

Actually, probably less the wiser. Brave to put it out there! The fairer, but far more vicious sex may have something to say.

Enjoyed this. Line 14 read a little uncomfortably. Can't think of an alternative though.

I'll let you into a secret, sweetie. One thing we don't want is love to be feigned. [If I read the word right]
There, now you know

we have lots of things that we want - and tell you poor fellows only the one that suits us at the time :)

Enjoyed the poem - especially for the thought it provokes, that women may actually be succeeding in our concealed purposes. No, I shan't tell you what those are :)
Jane!

Thats just the point - the comment places you amongst the most inscrutable of your gender...

How can one but feign love,
for what one has no knowledge of?

There...at least you inspired another couplet!

"accidental deed
of hip or lip" - looove those lines

There are a few like this on the site, but I don't think many women write poems about men...
