When Barry met Sally
By Sir_Nigel
14 June 2007

He’d never quite said hello to one yet
So Barry was looking for girls on the net.
Not ladies sprawled brazenly this way and that
But someone to share his small thirteenth floor flat
It’s not that those naughty girls didn’t appeal
But now he just felt he should have one for real.
So he searched for a site that was where it was at -
somewhere that young free and singles could chat.

He typed in his messages eager but wary
- those outgoing modern girls could be quite scary.
She also might claim to be young blonde and cute
But in truth be a hulking great fat lardy brute
He’d quite like a girl with big breasts and yet brains
who would happily share his keen interest in trains.

He said he was handsome with Come-to-bed eyes
And so he found Sally who liked gorgeous fun guys
He was thrilled that his lonely heart plan had succeeded
But resolved not to talk about tits unless she did.
They met at the station his heart and mind racing
For this was a real live girl he was facing.
He could hug her and kiss her and watch her undress
and tell her his thoughts of the Plymouth Express.

Sally existed in shy desperation,
Her outlook was hardened to low expectation.
But now after years in her flat all alone
She quite liked this man standing there on his own.
True he stirred up in her no thoughts of sex
with the crease in his jeans and his National Health specs.
But they talked and then giggled and he bought her some tea
Then they watched the arrival of the 5:23.

I can picture it now.

Enjoyed.

What's all this whimsy? Nothing to rant about?

Enjoyable, funny and heart-warming (in an odd way). A romance for the noughties.
