BLIND POEM
By Matlock
15 June 2007
One of my high school teachers was blind but she taught.
Although she read but with her fingers. With daily interactions with her I felt it wasn't easy being blind.

You want to read this poem? You can’t
You wish to count the stars but can’t

Feel like spying? It’s impossible
Really want to see but you are blind

Everything seems virtually vague and blunt
What you feel, you can’t visualize

Its weird – to be blind
Blind, blind as a bat.

I declined to comment on Nipped-off, because it was obviously a very personal poem.
Love, left me lost for words.
However, in all three of your poems I feel that you have struggled to convey the message that you were trying to get across.

You want to read this poem? You can’t (although you could if it was written in brail).

Everything seems virtually vague and blunt?
Meaning: Everything seems nearly not distinctly seen and not sharp, which for a blind person would seem a gross understatement! Unless she were partially blind?

Its weird – to be blind (odd to be blind? Extremely unfortunate maybe, but weird??)
Blind, blind as a bat (that can actually see using sonar!!).

I don’t feel like you have managed to get inside this person at all and instead you have conveyed how you feel about her blindness, which you clearly have no real understanding of.

Best wishes.
Steve.
