The world at present, what can I add.

Independent Reporting
The watchdog of society
The vigilant of the poor and needy
The liberator of the oppressed
The suppressor of lies
How can we live without this icon?
When the State overrides the Constitution
When politicians in authority overstep the line
When opponents do battle in the public arena
When the succession race becomes an obsession
When corruption is exposed at all levels of society
Service providers deceive the public out of their cash
When there is a contentious two centres of power?
The pillar of strength you to sleep peacefully at night
Thank God for your existence
May the State never suppress your righteous domain!

I'm glad you think you have a free and impartial media. I don't think we do. They are in the pay of co-orporations who all have their own agenda. The BBC isn't much better.

Not sure this works as a poem as such, but it does kind of echo the liturgy of high-church prayer.

Got To agree with Phil to a large extent, most of the media do follow the agenda set by the owners.
my own view is that in the UK there is only one Independent Newspaper and one that you may call Semi Independent.
Where I disagree with Phil is on the BBC, the domestic tv service does need to improve but some of the radio stations are hard hitting and the world service is still the one to listen to if you are working abroad.

now back to the importent thing-the poem

I lkie what you are saying but am not over keen on the layout, it assaults the eye!!

Phil and Bernie
Thanks for the comments. I was having one of those blonde days.
I agree with your comments and usually read between the lines when it comes to the media. I am referring to www.reporter.co.za which is a popular community venture run by the Sunday Times here in SA. :sigh
Looking on the bright side - the sun has come out again.
