Tony Blair to take over Kensington Palace.
By woody44
29 June 2007

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace announced today that following Tony Blair`s resignation as Prime Minister, he has graciously agreed to take up residency in Kensington Palace.
The spokesperson went on to say that Her Majesty had been thinking for some time that someone should fill the gap left by the tragic death of Princess Diana. When she heard that Mr Blair was stepping down as our leader, she immediately thought of Cherie Blair. Her Majesty is well aware that the British people desperately need a figurehead who they can love and say silly and soppy things about.
It is understood from Palace sources that Cherie was over the moon when given the news and immediately went out on a shopping spree for thirty or forty new dresses and booked several dancing lesson sessions. Mr Blair, it is believed, is more than pleased that his wife will be taking over from him as the most loved person in the British Isles.
Prince Charles meanwhile was said to be furious. `Mummy should have asked Camilla,`he said petulantly this afternoon.  It is thought however that he calmed down when his mother promised him the throne in ten or twenty years time, as a consolation.
Finally, it is rumoured that Mr Brown has suggested that as one of Cherie`s first Public engagements she should go on an oversees trip to see first hand the mine fields of Afghanistan....

Tony had better not invite James Hewitt round for tea and buns, he might take a shine to Cherie - as unlikely as that seems. Still, more unlikely things have happened - Charlie-boy fell for a horse.

I have to admit to mixed feelings about Blair. Disagree with much of what he has done, but at least he saw the Tories off for a while.

Good to stick it up him though. Enjoyed.

I really enjoyed reading this -and you managed to get a whole bunch of knocks against a great number of people in a very few words.

Personally, I thought he would be invited to go to Texas to stay with Bush for awhile and they would have to find some change in the rules so he could run for President of the US. My relatives just love him.

I'm sure you have summed Cherie up to a 'T'.
Wouldn't she just love all of that attention.
A funny read

Enjoyed this, especially the last 2 paragraphs. Particularly liked Prince Charles's reaction.

There is a real steely edge to this bit of knockabout fun that sort of sneaks up on you in the best tradition of all good satire. Some really good lines- my favourite:-
"more than pleased that his wife will be taking over from him as the most loved person in the British Isles"
If Rory Bremner ever needs a new scriptwriter......
cheers

Nicely nasty.

Tony Blair the finest tory leader the labour party ever had.

"New chancellor, Darling?"

Best

Good morning Jane and welcome back. Hope you enjoyed your holiday, if indeed that is where you have been hiding yourself.

Thanks Wltshr - Bet Tony is glad he`s gone right now as Gordon and his crew have certainly had to hit the ground running...

Good satire. I can just imagine this being used on a sketch show.
