Pontius Tony of Trimdon

His Tonyness has gone at last,

And the Scotsman waiting in the wings

Has moved into Number 10 so fast

That Sarah hadn’t  time to pack her things.

In their Trimdon home so neat,

Cherie is bathing Tony’s feet

They are already wet from walking on water.

She dries them with the towel he bought her.

Up to the bathroom goes Tony the Good,

Scrubbing his hands with the Lifebuoy bar.

The water is red and thick with blood

“I wash my hands of this no hope war”.

Is he the right man to become the envoy

Trying for peace in the Holy Land?

If he succeeds he’ll bring great joy.

But not to the soldiers killed in the sand.

my sentiments exactly. I cannot imagine what good he will do, having destroyed this country, and Iraq, he can only make things worse!
I love your verse, Cliff, it needed to be said!

I'm afraid my feelings on this are a little too complex to put in a simple review. (sorry - I know that sounds pompous - not meant to) A point worth raising, certainly - but I don't share you certainty.

Witty, dark and cynical. I liked it.

Quite a funny title Cliff. It draws people in to see what you have written about. Behind your comical poem I know you are not happy with all that has happened and are blaming Tony Blair, but he is not the only one in the world who is to blame for things as they are. We couldn't blame him for Saddam Hussein's henchmen murdering so many people in the cruel way they did. We can't blame him for the extremists taking their opportunity to kill - and, laughingly, in the name of religion. (What a screen). I feel that it is easy to say in hindsight someone could do this or that, but we will never know if this or that would have been any better. All I know is that money is being poured down a drain, into warring, when there are poor little children starving in the world who should be fed. Enough! Well done with your writing.
