Don't laugh it could happen!
As part of a wide ranging review of UK Airports it has been decided that in addition to London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London City Airport, London Stansted, and London Luton, all other airports within a 125 mile radius of London will be given the prefix London.
This, it has been decided by the powers that be in Brussels, will make it immeasurably easier for foreign tourists flying into the UK.
Airports to be renamed as part of this procedure include: London Birmingham Airport; London Bournemouth Airport; London Southampton Airport; London Coventry Airport; London Norwich Airport; and London East Midlands Airport; and, to the fury of the French, London Calais Airport.
If the scheme is successful every other major UK airport will have the prefix London added. A full list of all airports being renamed as part of this scheme can be found at: www.youcouldntmakeitup.com|

All of us from the provinces should just bow down before its greatness Lizzy | Written by Phil (6730 comments posted) 8th July 2007 | It'll never happen in Yorkshire - the real centre of the universe. It is the only place most tourists have heard of anyway. I can just imagine Chuck and Amy Finklemeyer wondering around Bolton looking for Madam Tussauds. And if they can get away with calling all the Polytechnics Universities they could get away with your idea I like your thinking Jane |
