The Name of the Game
By amethyst
03 August 2005

Darkness falls and I sit and wonder why,
The days are always the same
The same old story which arises my fears of a sad
And lonely game
No one knocks upon my door of opportunity
Bringing riches or fame
Hardly anyone knows my name

I sit in the silence wondering where to go next
Shall I succeed in what I think is right
Shall the others ever think I exist,
In a World
So full of wrong
Of greed and horrors, a mournful song
I am lost amidst the thoughtlessness of many
So concerned with their own being
Of their own selfish destruction

The wonders that surround them, they are unaware
Not looking, not listening nor do they see
What they could share with me
Only when they remember my name
Can they end their fruitless game

I can exist everywhere if they would let it be
Together everyone, you and me
So stop, listen to the silence for just a moment
Can you hear it, Can you feel it, Can you see it
If you cannot, then all hope is gone
You will never be content

I shall exist no doubt in the back of your mind
To be brought forward by future mankind
I shall be seen, I shall be heard, I shall one day be released
Until that day you shall go on being the same
Selfish, greedy destructive, with no thought for those
That pray for serenity

I do not wish to wait until eternity
To be once again among you
I am within each and everyone
I am the one that all should wish for
Release me and I shall reveal my name
Until then maybe you could teach me your game

Thought provoking.

I must confess I do not understand it but then my work is often misunderstood. I thought you were going in the same direction as my piece " ..illusion..."

Are you a forgotten deity, a state of grace now lost or just lost innocence.

I read it many times and I for some completely irrational reason thought of the Lady of Shallot prior to her leaving, web, loom and room.

Thank you for the experience.
