Carbon footprint found in the Himalayas
By woody44
13 July 2007

The scientific world is in a state of high excitement this morning with the news that a carbon footprint has been discovered in the foothills of the Himalayas.
`We always thought this region was the preserve of the Giant Yeti but it now appears other creatures may also inhabit this hostile landscape,` said the man who found the footprint, Doctor Carl Yeoman, leader of a three-hundred strong team of volunteers sent to clear up the thousands of oxygen cylinders and plastic bags littering the mountainside. As he refuelled one of the operations six air-conditioned snowmobiles, the doctor said the footprint was about the size of the head of a tennis racket and appeared to have six toes. `We are not sure until further tests are carried out but it looks at the moment as if the extra toe may have come about due to some sort of mutation, possibly caused by increased amounts of radiation.`
The doctor concluded by saying that once the team had collected all the detritus from the mountain and had it flown back to Katmandu in a fleet of specially chartered helicopters, a cast would be made of the footprint and then put on a fast jet back to London for analysis...

Yep, says it all really. It did occur to me that there must have been millions of airmiles travelled for those Al Gore inspired pop concerts at the weekend.

Good stuff. More subversive than laugh out loud funy, but effective for it.

I would like to be associated with the previous reviewers remarks.

I think there's a lot of mileage to be had in the whole global warming/carbon footprint/can Al Gore spell yet debate!!

Is subversive the new satire??

Apparently China are surfacing the road to the base camp of Everest, so it will be easier to carry the Olympic torch to the summit next year. Of course it will mean more tourists and the place will be invaded by tacky souvenir shops in no time. Perhaps they could recycle some of those oxygen cylinders to save on building materials.

Enjoyed this. A good piece of satire.

If the one in the Himalayas is already that big, then the one in the US certainly deserves the name Bigfoot :p
I recently heard that the whole global warming and CO2 emission stuff was actually made up by Margret Thatcher...
All hail the brave Gore-knight who is going to fight the Carbon dragon. all he demands as a reward is the princess, the kingdom and your wallet...
Spinning out of control...

Phil,Seagull, Ben and Fled- Thanks for commenting. I guess no matter what we do as inhabitants of this fragile planet we`ll end up cocking it up. Like they say..everything eventually goes full circle.

Hello Woody.

Thought I would pop my head round the door after 3-4 months of being too bloody busy. Nice to see you're still around and doing the business. I'll try and muck back in one day soon......

Cheers

Well done for highlighting the confusions and downright hypocrasy over all this business. I don't suppose we will ever know the truth of it.I still don't know what a carbon footprint its unless its the charcoal insets in my sons trainers
cheers
Jane

Welcome back Chris! Nice to hear from you again. Like many others I look forward to reading your searing wit once again.

Hi Jane. Another word thought up by the spin doctors I expect. I like your interpretation. The insides of kids trainers are certainly a danger to mankind...

Lovely idea.

The headline had me laughing. I didn't need the rest.

Very clever slant.

Thanks Wltshr. Thank goodness we have people inventing these silly names for things so we can play around with them!

Cheers

I read this when you first wrote it, and thought I had already left a comment, but I guess not.

I enjoyed it and the way you manage in such a short piece to take a snipe at so many people.
