Another BBC Apology
By Phil
14 July 2007
The BBC have apologised to Annie Leibovitz after claiming she remained in a photograph session with The Queen. Footage shown to journalists show Ms Leibovitz supposedly running into a room in Buckingham Palace carrying her camera equipment.

The BBC have had to admit that Ms Leibovitz was in fact fleeing the palace after witnessing The Queen strip to her Burberry underwear and offer to pole dance for the photo session. It is thought that the aging monarch is fed up with overdressing and wants to appeal more widely to the ‘ASBO classes.’

While the palace is officially unavailable for comment, inside sources claim Prince Phillip is delighted with developments and has recently invested in a digital movie camera, tripod and stainless steel pole.

Ms Leibovitz told reporters at her hotel: ‘I’ve not seen so many wrinkles since I photographed Mick Jagger. And at least he didn’t smell of urine.’

Delightful with a deft, or maybe daft touch! Well written and tight. I could imagine reading this in 'Not the Oldie'!

I should like to apologise for the BBC even though it's not my fault that we've got them. Still I suppose It's collective responsibility so, Sorry.

At the risk of being thrown in the tower HM`s whole body language suggests she was LEAVING the room. I have every sympathy with Ms Leibovitz. I remember seeing HM being painted by Rolf Harris and she hadn`t got a clue what to say to the poor man. Viva La Republique....Nice topical piece Phil, and nicely turned around.

Cheers

A very funny piece Phil, but I'm trying to get the image of the Queen pole dancing in her underwear out of my head. I wonder if she's got any piercings.

Great stuff.

Hello mate, Glad to see several of the old guard still on the scene. Your contempt for all things royal shines through quite nicely here.

Be back on the scene soon....

Cheers for now,

I love it when a news story is taken up and given a totally 180 degree turn, good original thinking. It was not only funny and surreal but also managed to stick the boot into the royal family so gold stars all round. I did wonder if there was any mileage in that story but am not feeling inspired atm.Really glad you picked up on it and turned in such a clever piece.
cheers

I enjoyed reading this and think it is great the way you can make fun of people and not really be nasty about it.

I agreed with all the above comments.

Loads of ammo here. With Annie's Rolling Stone and rock'n'roll history it's a shame that you couldn't have come up with something which would have brought a smile to both monarchist's and republican's faces.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed it.

But I think you could have expanded your market by changing the slant and been just as funny.

But hey, satire is as satire does.

Best
