I dream of climbing mountains high

Of swimming in deep oceans as fish go by

I dream of green grass and windblown trees

Fluttering flowers in the breeze

I dream of children laughing at play

Never hungry or scrounging for scraps

With a roof over their heads and clothes on their backs

With Fresh water and no disease

No one left to displease

Yet in reality it seems not to be

Is it so far out of reach?

When we can sit in the sun and sand at the beach

Yet these things they never see

No birds singing in a new day

No choices of how to go their own way

Except to raid a rubbish tip

Hoping to find something to fit

Or a tasty morsel left to rot

That may curb their hunger

                                   I guess not

I can climb a mountain, I can swim an ocean

I can see green grass and windblown trees

I am lucky, yet if I could,

I'd give my dreams to these
