A few 'lighthearted' refrains with a charming theme:Wink

Death & Love

Death
approaches a door
open, beckoning.
Yet Love,
helpless,
even now
resists the inevitable.

Passing

Minutes pass
Ripping pain in aged flesh.
Seconds falter
Diaphonous heart fluttering.
Time stops -
Release

Autumn

A bright hunter's moon
illuminates the earth - below -
death's savage harvest

A Soldier's Fate

Suddenly silent.
Bloody fields cradle
                tortured humanity,
weeping life as carrion feed.

Religion!

In the name of God
Thousands slaughtered
for a martyr's death.
God turns away, weeping.

Aftermath

Elegant towers,
glass and steel,
framed against the deep
blue sky,
gaze down
on the smouldering ruins
of their once
proud
brothers.

New Year

In time between times
Samhain fires light the wheel's turn -
From Death spings new Life

Particularly liked the haiku and near haiku. The first was rather good too.
