not as obvious as I thought!! Silent Scream is the title of a (I thought) famous anti abortion film. If you've a mind it can be seen here but be warned it's not dor the squeamish. http://www.silentscream.org/ Cheers Chris |

Thought your poem was effective and I can imagine it being used as a rallying cry for anti-abortionists. Cold, but emotive and effective. I checked out the site. Afraid I didn't get beyond part 1 of the video. I have very mixed and uneasy feelings about abortion. It's something I've thankfully never had to confront. Individually, I guess I'm against it. Collectively, I don't think I am. The video, far from making me more anti, just strengthened my ambiguity. I have a real problem with evangelising types. (of any kind) There's a real arrogance of (so called) truth about their message. It's exclusive and tends to say - you're either with me or against me. Put in that position by anyone, my natural inclination is to be against them. I can't think of many things worse than abortion, but I can't bring myself to say it is totally wrong in all cases. Got me thinking anyway. Phil. |

Deep down I am against abortion but as a man I feel that my opinion carries less weight that of a woman. I wouldn't say that I was a 'fervent evangelising type' but I do tend to side with the 'underdog'. Chris |

Sorry if you misunderstood Chris. I wasn't referring to you as an evangelising type, I was referring to Dr Whateverhisnamewas in the video. Your beliefs, quietly stated or shown through your writing, don't strike me as evangelising in the least - just honestly put. All the best, Phil.

Off all abortion related poems so far, this is certainly one of the cruelest and coldest, and therefore most succesful. I think abortion is one of those subjects which is too complicated to have a straightforward opinion on. If someone so completely disrespects a foetus as to hold the opinion of the poem, I wonder what life the child would have if it was born... |

I'm with Phil and Fledermaus on this one seagull. A very emotive subject with no easy answers and lots of grey areas. Once I knew what the poem related to it became a very powerful piece of work indeed. Not evangalising at all but certainly hard hitting. Good stuff. |

| I like this, particularly the second line. I don't think the fifth and sixth lines are well connected, though, and the rhyme of the last line seemed a tad forced. Otherwise nicely done, a heavy-handed subject dealt with without cliché. |
