Response to Seagull's little verse ... :)

A husband lives longer, they say
than an unmarried man, straight or gay;
but a woman as wife
has a much shorter life
than a woman who’s always said Nay.

Having read both of these poems, I'm sorely tempted to print them out and read them at my sister's wedding next week. They certainly beat all the usual sentimental trash!

If to wed leads to bodily merging,
Your verse sounds as though you are urging
That young gals should abjure
A life less than pure
and remain defiantly virgin!

I understand this is true - men live longer if wed, women if unwed. On average. Give or take a leg or two.
