Ahem Brett..........................:
Hey SB, you certaintly know how to stir up the old tom-tit huh! Having recently been accused of being a Didicoy, I was rather offended. Not because I dislike Didicoys, but because it is a derogatory term, maybe unfairly used.
BUT, having said that, I experienced similar situations where I grew up (not too far from you) in Bexley. There was a particular local family who were well known for their violence and criminality. I won't mention their family name because they have a ligitimate business side in the family and are pretty well connected. Also the same family have a 'maffiosi style' branch. My mother knew them from when she was a youngster and no doubt they are still around, some of them causing problems.
They were connected with a site on an industial estate on the south side of the Thames and were the cause of thievery and, sadly, child related fatal accidents because the kids were allowed to run wild.
However I am not sure Gypsies can be put into the same boat as Didicoys. I only have experience with Didicoys, not genuine Romany Gypsies, who I believe have a very strong culture.
Travellers are I think NOT Didicoys or Romanies. The term travellers makes me think of 'crusties' who, in more precise terms, are aggressive beggars.
I do know Romany Gypsies are descriminated against in the Czech Republic, Spain, Romania itself (due to the Rumanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu). Also thanks to him, Northern Europe is being flooded by under-educated, under-nourished, and pretty effing rough Romanians who have been kicked out of their own land. I admit I don't like them, but I ask myself: is it their fault they have been treated like inferior animals for generations? I suspect if you treat people like animals they will behave like them and even turn it into a culture or way of life.
Regarding your comments about animals taking over your local, I am beginning to think the latest generation of under-educated and morally devoid teenagers are taking the place of 'Gyppos.' And this is REALLY scary. Could it be the new English generation is the "nuevo-gitanos de Inglaterra"?
Finally, I would certainly say old SB is NOT a Hitlerish guy, but just someone who really cares about the sad way his country is going. (I would probably choose a different side of the political scale, but I know about and understand his concerns)
PS: But was it worth all those tax payers millions Basildon Council spent or are there a now a few more millions in the pocket of those Tory councillers for the land they got from the 'dirty illegal gypsy settlers???
