MAY Lazy Writers

Suggested topic for MAY - New Brooms.

As the old site went down right at the end of the April Lazy Writers' challenge, there is no poll for "Fools" - unless people have saved their work and would like to re-post.

Winning posts in writing Challenges could be "Stickied" at the top of the Challenges board for a couple of weeks. What do you think?

Normsk asked about open themes for writing prompts - I'm not sure anyone has noticed this one! Hence the post!

My contribution to the May challenge

"Hi there. You new?"

"Yes. You?"

"Started last week. Lots of newbies after that appalling disaster. You heard of course?"

"I did indeed. Terrible! They have made huge payouts in compensation. The injuries were horrific, not to mention the trauma cases. That kid was out of control. The news said he is receiving psychiatric help. I say lock him up for good. You can't have axe wielding maniacs out in the community."

"I suppose... but don't you think the boss should have took more of the blame?"

"Yeah. At least they put him somewhere he can't do much harm. He looks after the hat rabbits now."

"Hat rabbits?"

"You know. The rabbits that come out the hats."

"Oh. Ok. That's pretty demeaning after his last job I guess. He was getting on a bit."

"It's the families I feel sorry for. I got a mop and two brushes of my own."

"Nice. My wife left me for one of those hot shot city vacuum cleaners. No little ones fortunately."

"Sorry to hear that."

"Shush, here comes the boss. Stand up straight. He's a bit of a stickler. Stick-ler. Get it!"

"Good one"

The Sorcerer eyed the brooms in the corner closely before settling in his armchair with a hefty tome.

June Lazy Writers - The WOW factor challenge

Postby Keith exD » Mon May 30, 2011 7:26 am

Back by popular request

Last month I posted a poem giving my take on the somewhat over used expression 'The Wow Factor.'
It was suggested I put this theme up as a June challenge for this section, so here it is:

What rings your bell? What made your jaw hit the deck?
Tell us what the WOW factor means to you, or about your own personal WOW moment.

Any form, poetry, prose ect. Any genre (but keep it clean... -ish)

If you don't fancy that, maybe write about another hackneyed phrase: 'The Feel Good Factor'

No voting, just an exercise, but all participants will be entitled to a one year subscription to GW for free!

A circled wave given to my applauding, cheering fans as I stroll along the red carpet covered in ticker tape celebration.

I look at the calendar like an expectant Father.

"When will I be crowned the King of the May challenge?"

King Norm of V! the one and only.

I can see how popular these challenges are. I hope mine does equally as well.

Hi Keith - bit disappointed so far? Well, I've just got back from a few days away and have some catching up to do but still hope to post something here.

Cheers
